IMAGE DESCRIPTION:
This is Detroit's Renaissance Center. When it was built back in the 70's
it was supposed to herald the rebirth of downtown Detroit. Decades later
Detroit has to fudge census results to keep itself over the 1 million
mark and qualify for some federal programs. Now the company I work for
is talking about moving downtown and everybody's saying it's going to
turn the city around.

I'm not sure there's much hope for the old Motor City. Its decline has
been slow, but it has been steady. That's why I chose to depict the
Renaissance Center in a gloomy atmosphere.

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:
This is a very simple model. It renders quickly. It was getting the sky
and fog and atmosphere right that took some work. This is the view of the
Ren-Cen (as it's known) from across the river in Windsor, Ontario, or
maybe from in the river itself somewhere, I'm not really sure of the scale.
